Statkraft entered the Indian power market through its subsidiary SN Power in 2004 when it acquired 49 per cent of the shares in Malana Power Company Limited (MPCL). Statkraft was then the first foreign investor in the Indian hydropower sector.
Our energy generation portfolio in India includes two operating hydropower assets (Allain Duhangan and Malana), one hydropower asset under construction (Tidong) and one solar park in operation (Nellai). All three hydro power assets are located in the state of Himachal Pradesh, while the solar park is located in the state of Tamil Nadu.
We are currently executing a 150 MW hydro project at Tidong in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Another 75 MW of solar power are under development in the state of Tamil Nadu, the same state where our first solar park, Nellai (76 MW) came online in Q2 of 2022. We are also looking to develop wind-solar hybrid and standalone solar and wind projects in other parts of the country.
